Intersection of Forensic Science and Private Practice Workshop, CU

It was a moment of great honor to present my thoughts at a recent workshop titled “Exploring the Intersection of Forensic Science and Private Practice” on October 18, 2023, at Chandigarh University.

The event turned out to be an eye-opener for students, academicians, and practitioners alike, providing valuable insights into the multifaceted world of forensic science and its practical applications.

Key Points I Discussed During the Workshop:

Introduction to Forensic Science: I began with an introduction to the field of forensic science, highlighting its evolution, significance in modern society, and role in solving crimes. I also highlighted the multifaceted nature of this field and how it goes beyond crime scene investigation.

Private Practice in Forensic Science: One of the major highlights I shared was the exploration of private practice within the realm of forensic science. I discussed the vast array of opportunities available in private practice, from consulting for law firms to offering expert testimony in court.

Case Studies and Real-Life Applications: I also presented attendees with several real-life case studies, showcasing the practical applications of forensic science in private practice. Attendees gained insights into how forensic experts collaborate with legal professionals to solve complex cases.

Ethical and Legal Considerations: Forensic experts must be aware of ethical and legal considerations in their work. I emphasized the importance of following high ethical standards while working as a private practitioner to ensure the admissibility of your findings in court.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Research: Advancements in technology have transformed forensic science, making it an exciting and dynamic field. I discussed the latest technological innovations and research trends that are shaping the future of forensic science.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

After the workshop, an MoU was signed between Chandigarh University and SIFS India, Delhi.

This MoU is the first step to mark the beginning of a collaborative journey between the two academic institutions and will open new opportunities in the field of forensic science education, research, and practice.

The partnership’s primary aim is to promote knowledge exchange, joint research projects, and student internships, providing students with hands-on experience in the field of forensic science.

In conclusion, the workshop turned out to be a remarkable event, giving attendees an opportunity to explore the diverse facets of forensic science and its connection with private practice and inspiring them to take initiative in this domain. Also, the signing of the MoU with SIFS India in Delhi will open the gateway for a promising future in this fascinating field.
