International Conference: Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices, University of the Philippines Los Baños
The University of the Philippines Los Baños,
organized an International Conference on Indigenous
Knowledge Systems and Practices emphasizing the value of local knowledge in
developing inclusive approaches to the intersectionality of death, dying,
disaster, and violence.
The conference brought together a diverse
group of scholars, practitioners, and community members to discuss the value of
local knowledge in developing inclusive approaches to the intersectionality of
death, dying, disaster, and violence and was a huge success.
During the session, I emphasized the role
diverse cultural and traditional practices and native knowledge systems can play
in addressing these issues.
I also highlighted the need to develop
inclusive approaches that are grounded in local knowledge and that recognize
the interconnectedness of nature, culture, and spirituality.
I also talked about the importance of incorporating
traditional practices and knowledge into disaster response and management and
developing strategies to address violence and promote peace.
In conclusion, it was great to be a part of such thought-provoking conference.
