Importance of Cross-Examination: An Event by BAR Council of India – Udaipur
Scientific evidence found at the crime scene plays a crucial role in solving crimes, identifying suspects, and convicting criminal.
However, forensic experts do not simply trust the evidence or the forensic report generated on its basis. They follow a cross-examination process.
To highlight the importance of cross-examination and its role in establishing the genuinity of the scientific evidence or the forensic report, the BAR Council of India 2014 invited me to give a lecture on this topic.
It is a vast topic and requires a lot of expertise to cross-examine any evidence. However, with several years of experience, I shared various valuable insights about it.
I discussed several topics in detail.
I highlighted what questions a forensic expert must ask, how to use cross-examining techniques productively, what sequence needs to be followed, how to read and understand forensic reports, and the pros and cons associated with cross-examination.
Also, several other points without which cross-examination will be incomplete were discussed.
Everyone highly appreciated the lecture, and I felt honored to be felicitated by the President Biri Singh of the Bar Council of India.
It was a great feeling to be a part of such an event where I got the opportunity to share my expertise with others.
