Investigation is the word that pops up whenever you hear about forensics.
And nothing could be more fascinating than judging the first Forensic Expo “Get Set Investigate” by the Department of Forensic Science held at JECRC University, Jaipur on 27 March 2023.
The expo marked the union of two distinctive
competitions:
- Eagle Eye - The Evidence Hunt
- Mock Crime Scene Investigation
A total of 40 teams from institutes and colleges participated from all over the country to demonstrate their hidden talent and showcase their investigative skills.
It amazed me as a judge how much effort the students put into demonstrating their approach to solving real-life forensic science problems.
I was struck by the students' enthusiasm and
passion for the subject. It was inspiring to see how they had integrated the
knowledge and skills they had gained through their coursework during the
competition.
University’s forensic science department students presented models and posters and I was surprised to see the innovative ideas these young brigades had come up with.
I shared my professional experiences with the participants and discussed how they can explore a wide range of forensic opportunities. I was overwhelmed by the rising craze for forensics
in the pink city of Jaipur and hope we have several forensic experts in the
future.
The competition was quite tough as all the
participants demonstrated their talent to the maximum. The expo is
proof of the growing craze and demand for forensics in our country's youth.
However, like every competition there must be a
winner.
The details of the winners are as follows: -
Eagle Eye - The Evidence Hunt Competition
Winners - SIFS INDIA, New Delhi
Runner Up - LPU (Lovely Professional
University).
Mock Crime Scene
Winners - Jaipur National University
Runner Up - Mody University
Overall, the first Forensic Expo was a success. It
provided a platform for students to showcase their hidden talent, learn
problem-solving skills, and encourage them to continue pursuing their research
and studies in this exciting field.
I am grateful to Vice Chairperson Shri Arpit Agrawal and Director Ms. Vaishnavi Thakre and the entire Forensic Department for inviting me as the chief guest along with Dr. Mukesh Sharma Sir and making every effort to make the event successful.
