Forensic Expert's Guest Lecture and MoU Signing at Bharti Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur

Forensic science holds immense importance when it comes to solving complex crimes. Forensic experts have been able to solve some of the most challenging cases and bring justice to the victims.

As a forensic expert, I recently had the privilege of delivering a guest lecture at Bharti Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SIFS, my institute, on May 8, 2023.

Bharti Vishwavidyalaya is a renowned university with a dedicated forensic science department. It holds to its credit by shaping the future of many forensic enthusiasts by equipping them with knowledge about the latest technologies and methods used in the field of forensic science.

My guest lecture was around the topic "Questioned Document: Laboratory to Courtroom."

During the lecture, I shared various case studies and highlighted how questioned document examination, a subfield of forensic science, has played a crucial role in solving complex cases.

My guest lecture was around the topic "Questioned Document: Laboratory to Courtroom."

During the lecture, I shared various case studies and highlighted how questioned document examination, a subfield of forensic science, has played a crucial role in solving complex cases.

I emphasized:

  • How forensic analysis of documents such as signatures, handwriting, and printed materials can provide crucial evidence in legal investigations.
  • Uniqueness of handwriting traits. Each person's handwriting is different. There are patterns, pressure, strokes, curves, etc. that are unique to every individual's handwriting and signature. There will always be some natural variation associated with it, no matter how skillfully copied. A forensic expert can easily detect forged signatures.
  • How analysis techniques are constantly evolving, and to make a career in this field, a combination of scientific expertise and attention to detail is required.
  • How signature verification, which is an extension of the handwriting test, proves helpful to authenticate legal documents, bank checks, wills, etc.

The lecture was well received by the students, and their eagerness to learn more about the field was commendable.

It was an engaging lecture, and students asked several questions, which showed their keen interest in the subject.

After the lecture, a model exhibition was organized. Students displayed models related to wildlife crime scenes, types of injuries, mummification, types of crimes, etc.

In the model exhibition, Ojasaw and Ayush got the first position, Dileshwar got the second position, and Sakshi Bhandekar got the third position.

As a token of appreciation, I announced scholarships for all the students who prepared models.

The workshop was excellently executed, making the students aware of the practical aspects of questioned document examination, one of the most sought-after forensic science fields.

A memorandum of understanding was signed with Bharti Vishwavidyalaya, which would enable us to work together on various projects and collaborations.

The MoU aims to strengthen the ties between SIFS and Bharti Vishwavidyalaya, providing students with access to the latest developments in the forensic science field. It will also facilitate joint research projects and knowledge sharing, which will benefit both institutions.

It was a memorable experience for me to deliver a lecture and my institute to collaborate with them to work together to create a plethora of opportunities in forensics.
