Government Institute of Forensic Science,
Nagpur, organized a one-day seminar on ‘Corporate Forensics & Intellectual
Property Rights’ and a Poster presentation competition. I was invited as the
chief guest and keynote speaker for the event.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Jairam Khobragade, the Director of Government Institute of Forensic Science, introduced me as a Ph.D. holder in forensic science with more than a decade of experience providing investigation services.
He also highlighted his
institute’s achievements and said that 90 forensic science students had landed
jobs in different organizations, and 11 had cleared the NET exam. He gave
credit for the high success rate to admitting students strictly on a merit
basis.
After the opening speech, I got the privilege to address significant aspects of forensic science and shed light on the vast difference between corporate forensics and public forensics.
Corporate forensics is fact-based, and there
is hardly any scope of shortcomings. It can be carried out with a minimum
number of documents, whereas many documents are required while performing
forensics of government departments. Also, the scope of interaction is much
more in corporate forensics.
I also highlighted the crucial role forensic
experts play while detecting frauds related to signatures and date of birth
which are common in the banking and insurance sector.
I further stressed that though the corporate
sector offers more lucrative salaries and perks than the public sector,
forensic experts representing an investigating agency need to present facts in
court carefully.
The ending of the seminar was marked by the
Poster presentation competition in which around 250 students took part from
Bilaspur, Indore, Sagar, Chandigarh, Amravati, Aurangabad, Andhra Pradesh,
Jhansi and Nagpur’s Raisoni College, Mohota College of Science, Dr. Bhim Rao
Ambedkar College, and Kamla Nehru College.
Many Head of Department, Assistant Professor Ashish Badiye, Assistant Professor Dr. Rajesh Patil, Dr. Sanjay Thakre, and several others were attendees. Hansi Bansal, Niti Kapur, Harendra Bamburde, and others put in a lot of effort to make the event successful.
