3rd International Forensic Science Conference – University of Manila
Forensic science acts like a pillar by assisting law enforcement bodies in establishing an effective justice system.
And with time, its scope has widened manifolds.
To discuss ever-growing opportunities in this
field, the 3rd International Forensic Science Conference was hosted from 30
November 2022 to 2 December 2022 by several prominent universities and institutes,
namely:
- University of Baguio
- University of Manila
- Sherlock Institute of Forensic Sciences,
India
- Holy Angel University
The conference theme was "Forensic Science: Beyond Interdisciplinary Applications."
It took place in person
at the University of Baguio, RCB Dome, and virtually via Zoom.
I felt pleased to deliver a scientific
session on 30 November 2022, the first day of the three-day-long International
Forensic Science Conference at Plaza Lodge, Baguio City, Philippines.
The conference revolved around:
- Introducing interdisciplinary and
multidisciplinary forensic science methods.
- Spreading knowledge and awareness regarding
mass casualty incidents.
- Exploring the scientific methodologies and
procedures to locate victims during MCIs.
- Exploring scientific models to assist in
estimating mortality rates resulting from varied death causes.
- Discussing various moral, ethical, and
societal dilemmas that may arise while interacting with victims of MCI.
- Collaborating with experts from different
professions along with implementing multiple tactics.
Many students and professional participants registered themselves to be a part of this gala event.
Also, several people became lifelong members
of International Association of Scientists & Researchers (IASR), and it was a great feeling to distribute lifetime membership
certificates to them.
IASR provides a platform for budding forensic
science students to publish their research papers and gain global exposure. The
platform is open to everyone. You can apply for membership here if you want to
showcase your skills to the world and acquire fame in the forensic
community.
Also, a week-long visit would have been incomplete without discussing the cultural extravaganza I enjoyed there and the exotic mouth-watering dishes I got to binge upon.
Watch this short video to have a glimpse of
Philippine culture.
It was a memorable trip, and I loved all the moments I spent there with forensic experts, students, and the people of the Philippines. Thank you, Tess De Guzman Mam, for inviting me to this fantastic conference.
